We spent a day on Mackinac  Island this weekend while exploring the fall colors.  We had beautiful weather and the day was a perfect mix of activity and leisure.  The day started off with a delicious breakfast from the local bakery eaten down by the water, followed by exploring the local buildings and shops, bike riding around along the beautiful lakeshore, watching the set up for an outdoor wedding, a sunset behind Mackinac Bridge, and a delicious dinner in a cozy restaurant.  The fall colors are just getting into full swing on the island, so if you have a free day or two you still have time for beautiful fall sightseeing. 

Foggy Day on Mackinac Island

Last spring we made a visit to Mackinac Island.  Unfortunately, we did not have the best weather, but we still had so much fun and got some great photographs in the fog.  I love how atypical the images are.

I have always wanted to visit Mackinac Island during the winter.  How fun to be snuggled away in one of the beautiful hotels and then wander out in the snow for some window shopping and hot chocolate.  And how awesome is this, Mackinac Island was voted as one of HGTV's Top Ten Christmas Towns.  Check out all the island's winter activities here.
