Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Our 4th of July was spent in Empire and I am so excited to share the details of our trip with you because we had the most wonderful time.  We visited the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore which has been voted one of the top 5 beaches on the Great Lakes.  I totally understand how it gained that crown.  The beach has beautiful, soft sand, volleyball and basketball courts, a giant playscape, restroom facilities, and is within walking distance of both downtown Empire and the Sleeping Bear Dunes.  The beach of course was busy, but it never felt too cramped or crowded.  It was one of those days that we hoped would never end!

How beautiful is the Lake Michigan water- so clear and blue!
